Mothertime

mothertimeMothertime is a group to turn to if you want encouragement, advice and support in your mothering. You are not alone in needing help and support!

Every mother knows the endless demands placed on us, and just like our children, we need care too! I became a mother 29 years ago and have 6 children. I had a wonderful mum to give me helpful advice and support, but in today's global society, many mothers have no one to turn to.

Mothertime seeks to meet that need. Each month you can access a new and helpful topic to encourage and motivate you. You can join together with some other mums and begin a Mothertime group, to find strength and support in numbers. I want you to see the true value and worth in what you are doing, and to recognise the significant difference you can make in this world through your mothering. Remember that the family is like a tiny little society within society. We may not be able to change the world, but we can change our world!

Mothertime is about mothers reaching out to other mothers, to fill the void of isolation, emptiness and confusion many mothers experience. Mothertime was formed in response to the decline of traditional maternal support networks in the community. Unlike playgroups, which focus on our children, Mothertime focuses on the mother. We have five aims:

1. To encourage mothers to see the value, worth and significance of all that they do.

2. To create a network of care and support for mothers in the community, through the formation of Mothertime groups.

3. To provide a place of warmth and acceptance, to gain mothering skills, share problems, and find appropriate help.

4. To facilitate the formation of new friendships between mothers.

5. To link mothers who are at risk or experiencing difficulty with the appropriate professional help.
